ZoomInfo connects its B2B company and contact data to Exa, the search API for AI agents
On 23 October 2026 ZoomInfo announced a native integration with Exa, a search API used to build AI agents. Customers of both companies can now add ZoomInfo company and contact data to their Exa agent workflows, and developers can reach the same data through ZoomInfo's GTM.AI API and MCP server.
What ZoomInfo announced
Exa sells a search API that AI agents use to look things up. Its Exa Connect feature lets an agent query outside data sources in one request. ZoomInfo is now one of those sources: an agent running in Exa can ask for company and contact data for prospecting, enrichment and account research.
The connector runs on GTM.AI, which ZoomInfo describes as a headless layer over its data, offered through an API and an MCP server. Teams that build their own agents can use that route directly. ZoomInfo says its data covers 100 million companies and 500 million contacts, and that access control, permissions, data lineage and audit logs apply on every connected surface. Pricing and regional availability are not stated in the announcement.
What it means for B2B sales teams
Contact data is moving out of the prospecting app and into agents. A sales or RevOps team that builds a research agent no longer has to export lists and paste them in; the agent can look up the account and the people in one step. That saves time, but it also means more software touches personal data without a person in between.
In the EU that is the real question. Pulling a named buyer's details into an agent is still processing under GDPR, and you still need a lawful basis and a way to tell the person where you got their data. The announcement says nothing about EU data handling. In the US the risk is smaller but the cost is not: data credits spent by an agent add up quickly, and the price is not public.
What to do now
- If you already pay for both tools, ask your ZoomInfo and Exa account managers what the connector costs and how credits are counted.
- Before connecting an agent, write down which fields it may pull and turn on audit logging.
- For EU contacts, check your lawful basis and your privacy notice with your data protection lead.
- Test the agent on twenty known accounts first; our lead generation team checks data quality the same way.
