Salesforce agrees to buy Braze for about $5.66 billion
Salesforce announced on 20 October 2026 a definitive agreement to acquire Braze, a customer engagement platform, for approximately $5.66 billion in enterprise value. Braze shareholders would receive $47.50 in cash per share, and the deal is expected to close in Salesforce's fiscal year 2028.
What Salesforce announced
Braze reacts to customer behaviour in real time and coordinates personalised messages across mobile apps, websites, email, SMS and WhatsApp. Its event-streaming architecture is built for high-volume consumer engagement, and its AI layer, BrazeAI, optimises content, offers, channels and timing. Salesforce says Braze serves about 2,770 customers, including Canva, Instacart and Venmo.
After closing, Salesforce expects Braze to strengthen Marketing Cloud's cross-channel personalisation and to work with Data 360, Customer 360 and Agentforce. Braze CEO Bill Magnuson said the company will keep building as Braze. The deal needs approval from Braze shareholders and regulators. Salesforce says its FY27 guidance does not change.
"Every interaction is an opportunity to wow your customers," said Patrick Stokes, President of Applications and Marketing at Salesforce. What changes for existing Braze or Marketing Cloud contracts and pricing is not stated in the announcement.
What it means for B2B sales teams
Braze is mostly a consumer marketing platform, so most B2B IT and SaaS sales teams will not feel this directly. The signal is the direction: Salesforce keeps pulling real-time behaviour data closer to the CRM, after buying Loops for analytics a week earlier. For B2B teams the useful idea is the same at a smaller scale: product usage and website behaviour should reach the seller in time to act on it. If you already pay for Braze or Marketing Cloud, expect bundle offers, and do not sign a long renewal before the roadmap is clear.
What to do now
- If you use Braze or Marketing Cloud, note your renewal dates and ask your account team what changes after closing.
- List the customer signals your sellers act on today, such as product sign-ups or pricing page visits, and how fast they reach the CRM.
- Keep data portability in mind: check that your contact and activity data can be exported in a usable format.
- Make sure every signal ends with a human follow-up; our IT sales outsourcing teams work from the same signal list.
