Agentic Sales Tools for Early-Stage Companies: What Is Available in 2026

Salesforce, Microsoft, HubSpot and Google all shipped sales agents in the last few weeks. Here is what each one does, what it needs from you, and what an early-stage company can sensibly use today.

Agentic sales tools are AI systems that take a sales goal, such as researching a list of accounts or following up with prospects, and carry out the steps themselves instead of waiting for a prompt at every turn. Between 11 September and 8 October 2026, Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft and Google all announced new agents for sales work, so the question we keep hearing from founders is a simple one: which of these can a small company actually use?

This guide answers it. You get a plain list of the agentic sales tools available in October 2026 and their status, what each one needs before it can do anything useful, what agents still cannot do, how an agent compares with an outsourced team or a first sales hire, and a 30-day pilot plan you can copy. It is written for founders and first sales leaders at software, IT and SaaS companies, from the first paying customers to the first few reps.

What is an agentic sales tool?

An agentic sales tool works toward an outcome rather than answering a single question. A classic AI assistant drafts the email you ask for. An agent is told to find accounts that match a profile, research them, write a first message, send it, watch for replies and hand the warm ones to a person, and it plans those steps on its own within the limits you set.

Google described the shift well when it launched its Gemini agent on 8 October 2026: you give it objectives, not instructions. That is the useful test when a vendor calls something an agent. If you still have to trigger every step by hand, it is an assistant with a new label.

Adoption is moving fast. In Salesforce's 7th State of Sales report, a survey of 4,050 sales professionals run in August and September 2025, 54% of sellers said they had used agents and nearly 9 in 10 planned to by 2027. If you sell to other software companies, your buyers' sales teams are trying the same tools.

Which agentic sales tools are available right now?

Here is the short version, based only on what each vendor has published. Prices are left out on purpose: none of the four announcements states a price for the agent itself, so ask the vendor before you plan a budget.

Salesforce. On 11 September 2026 Salesforce announced seven job-ready agents. Six are generally available now. Hunter, the outbound one, is in pilot with general availability planned for November 2026. Salesforce itself tells customers to base purchase decisions on features that are available today, which is good advice for every vendor on this list. We covered what Hunter means for European sellers in our Hunter analysis.

Microsoft. On 8 October 2026 Microsoft said its Sales Development Agent is in public preview and will start consuming Copilot credits on 16 November 2026. It is managed in Teams and sends email from its own Exchange account. The same post added 30 pre-built Dynamics 365 skills to Copilot.

HubSpot. HubSpot's Fall 2026 Spotlight on 16 September updated its Prospecting Agent to monitor more than 40 buying signals, assemble a buying group and draft outreach. Breeze Assistant now takes a request in plain language and pulls in the right agent. For many small teams this is the most relevant release, because HubSpot is often the first CRM they buy.

Google. The Gemini agent is a general work agent rather than a sales product, but it connects to Salesforce, Slack and any Model Context Protocol server. Teams can create coworker agents that get their own Workspace account with an email address and calendar, and every action is written to an audit trail attributed to the agent. Projects can have a hard spend cap.

Which agentic sales tools fit an early-stage company?

The honest answer: the agent that lives inside the systems you already use. Every tool in the table reads your CRM, your inbox and your calendar. If you buy a new CRM only to get an agent, you take on a migration and a data cleanup at the same time, and the agent starts with nothing to read.

What makes sense depends on where you are:

  • Founder-led sales, first 10 customers. You do not have a pipeline big enough to need an outbound agent. Use agents for preparation: account research before calls, meeting notes, follow-up drafts and CRM updates you approve. Your time goes into learning why people buy.
  • A repeatable offer and a defined ideal customer profile. Now an outbound or prospecting agent can help, because you can tell it exactly who to target and what to say. Start with one segment and one language, and keep a person reading every reply.
  • First sales hires on board. Agents earn their place by removing admin from those people: research, logging, follow-up reminders. The rep's time moves to discovery calls and demos, which is where deals are won.
  • No CRM yet. Fix that first. A clean, simple CRM with real account and contact data is worth more than any agent, and it is what every agent on the market reads from.

What AI sales agents do well, and what they still cannot do

Agents are strong at the repetitive middle of sales work. Sellers in the Salesforce survey expect agents, once fully implemented, to cut prospect research time by 34% and email drafting time by 36%. Those are expectations, not measured results, but they point at the right tasks: research, first drafts, reminders, record updates and scheduling.

They are weak at the parts that decide whether a young company sells at all. An agent cannot work out your positioning, choose the segment where you win, or run a discovery call with a sceptical head of IT. It also cannot replace trust. In a Gartner survey of 645 B2B buyers published on 20 May 2026, 69% said they prefer to validate AI-generated insights with sales reps. Buyers use AI to research, then want a person to check it with.

There is a quieter risk too. An agent sends whatever your process tells it to send, at a speed no human can match. If your targeting is vague or your message is weak, the agent does not fix it. It repeats the mistake hundreds of times and burns your sending domain on the way. Our guide to why cold emails go to spam explains how that damage happens and how long it takes to repair.

Agentic tools vs an outsourced team vs a first sales hire

Most early-stage companies are really choosing between three ways to fill the top of the funnel, and they can be combined. The comparison below uses published figures where they exist.

OptionTime to first resultsMain costMain risk
Agentic sales toolDays to set up, weeks to tuneSoftware licences or credits, plus your time to superviseVolume without judgment; data protection gaps
Outsourced sales teamFirst meetings in weeks 3 to 5 with usA monthly retainer, from 1,750 euros on our Launch planChoosing a provider that sells lists, not meetings
First in-house SDRAverage ramp of 3.0 months (Bridge Group)Median OTE of USD 80,000 (Bridge Group)Median attrition of 40%, so you may rehire within a year

The SDR figures come from The Bridge Group's 2025 SDR report, based on 351 B2B companies. They explain why many founders look at agents in the first place: a human SDR takes a quarter to ramp and often leaves within two years.

The practical middle ground is a mix. Let agents handle research and admin, and let experienced people own targeting, messaging and every live conversation. We compared the two extremes in detail in AI SDR vs outsourced sales team, and our outsourced sales vs in-house SDR calculator lets you run the numbers for your own case.

Rules to set before an agent contacts anyone in Europe

An agent that writes to prospects is doing outbound sales in your name, so the same law applies as for a human SDR, plus one newer rule.

From 2 August 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires providers to design AI systems that interact directly with people so that those people are informed they are dealing with an AI system, unless that is obvious from the context. Read what this means for sales teams in our EU AI Act guide. On top of that, cold email rules differ by country: some EU states require prior consent even for business addresses. Check whether cold email is legal in each European market before the agent sends anything, and talk to your own counsel for your specific case.

Write the agent's rules down the way you would brief a new hire:

  • Who it may contact. Countries, company sizes, roles, and an exclusion list of customers, partners and competitors.
  • What it may say. Approved claims, no prices or discounts unless you allow them, and no promises about features that are not shipped.
  • How it identifies itself. Whether messages say an AI assistant was involved, in line with the AI Act and your own policy.
  • When a person takes over. Every positive reply, every question about price or contract, and every complaint goes to a human the same day.
  • What it may write to the CRM. Ideally suggestions that a person approves, as Microsoft and HubSpot now offer, not silent overwrites.

How to run a 30-day pilot with an AI sales agent

Treat the first month as a test with a clear question: does this agent produce more qualified conversations per hour of our time than what we do now? A simple plan:

  • Week 1: pick one job. Account research for a defined segment of 100 to 200 companies is a good first job. Write down how long it takes a person today.
  • Week 1: clean the data the agent will read. Account owners, industries, company sizes and contact roles. Bad fields produce confident nonsense.
  • Week 2: run it with approval on. Every message and every CRM change is reviewed before it goes out. Note what you had to fix.
  • Week 3: widen carefully. If the edits are small, let it send first messages for that one segment, with replies routed to a person.
  • Week 4: compare. Meetings held, replies, unsubscribes, spam complaints and the hours you spent supervising, against the same segment worked by a person or by your outsourced team.

If the agent saves time but books nothing, the problem is usually upstream: the profile, the offer or the message. That is sales strategy work, and no tool does it for you.

Frequently asked questions

Which agentic sales tools are available for early-stage companies?

In October 2026 the main ones are HubSpot's Prospecting Agent, Microsoft's Sales Development Agent in public preview, Salesforce's Agentforce agents with the outbound agent Hunter in pilot until November 2026, and Google's new Gemini agent for Workspace. For an early-stage company, the best choice is usually the agent built into the CRM and email tools you already use.

Can an AI agent replace an SDR at a startup?

It can replace part of the work, mainly research, first drafts and follow-up reminders. It cannot yet define your ideal customer profile, judge a reply, or run a discovery call. Most early-stage teams get better results by pairing agents with people who own targeting and conversations, whether that is a founder, a first hire or an outsourced team.

How much do AI sales agents cost?

The four big announcements from September and October 2026 do not publish a price for the agents themselves. Microsoft's agent starts consuming Copilot credits on 16 November 2026, and Google lets you set a spend cap per project. Ask the vendor for the price, the plan you need and how usage is billed before you commit.

The same cold email rules apply as for a person, and they differ by country, with some requiring prior consent even for business addresses. Since 2 August 2026, the EU AI Act also requires that people interacting directly with an AI system are informed of it unless that is obvious. Check each market and ask your own counsel.

Agentic sales tools and people, working together

At IT SalesaaS we use AI for research and preparation, and experienced people for targeting, messaging and every live conversation. Our lead generation service books qualified meetings for IT, software and SaaS companies, with outreach in English, Czech and Turkish. A qualified meeting is one that actually takes place, with a company matching the profile agreed in writing before the start, and with a decision-maker or influencer present.

Our plans and prices start at 1,750 euros a month for 5 qualified meetings on Launch, with 10 meetings on Traction at 2,900 euros and 15 on Scale at 4,900 euros, each on a six-month term that can be extended. First meetings land in weeks 3 to 5. If the gap is the profile or the message rather than the tooling, our sales strategy development work fixes that first.
