Microsoft adds 30 Dynamics 365 skills to Copilot, Sales Development Agent in public preview

Microsoft announced on 8 October 2026 that Copilot gets 30 pre-built skills from Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service and Customer Insights, and that Dynamics 365 CRM data now appears inside Teams channels. Its Sales Development Agent, which researches prospects and emails them from its own mailbox, is in public preview and starts using Copilot credits on 16 November 2026.

What Microsoft announced

The skills build on the Copilot experience Microsoft introduced on 25 September. In Copilot, a seller can ask for at-risk deals, build an account engagement plan and receive proposed CRM record updates to review before they are saved. Service reps can pull a customer's case history, research an answer and draft a reply. Marketing users get outreach based on customer insights and journeys with consent and readiness checks. The skills run on Dynamics 365 Model Context Protocol servers, and custom agents can call them too.

With Dynamics 365 CRM in the flow of Teams, a Teams channel can be connected to a customer account. Agents then post pre-meeting briefs, case notifications and account developments into the channel, so sales and service work from the same customer view. Work IQ in Teams joins Dynamics 365 data with Microsoft 365 workplace signals. This Teams experience is in public preview.

Sales Development Agent, first announced in 2025, researches prospects, personalises outreach, manages follow-up conversations and passes qualified opportunities to a seller when buying signals appear. Microsoft says it is managed in Teams, sends email from its own Exchange account and connects to leading CRM platforms. It is in public preview and will start consuming Copilot credits on 16 November 2026. Adobe's Prabhath Yeluri is quoted saying the agent reached more than ten customers in three weeks; that is a customer claim, not an independent result.

What it means for B2B sales teams

The practical change is that a seller in Microsoft 365 no longer opens the CRM to prepare a call or update a deal. The record comes to Outlook and Teams, and the update goes back for review. That pays off only when Dynamics 365 holds clean account and contact data. The Sales Development Agent is the bigger decision. An agent that emails prospects from its own mailbox is outbound at scale, so it needs the rules you would give a human SDR: who it may contact, what it may promise and when a person takes over.

For teams selling in Europe, the agent's emails fall under the ePrivacy and GDPR rules of each market, and B2B cold email rules differ between EU countries. In the US, CAN-SPAM applies. The announcement does not describe consent handling for the agent, so check it before the agent sends anything. Note the date as well: credits are charged from 16 November, so the preview is free of credits for about five weeks.

What to do now

  • If you run Dynamics 365 Sales with Microsoft 365 Copilot, start with the Cowork skills for deal review and CRM updates, where a person approves every change.
  • Before enabling Sales Development Agent, write its contact rules and the hand-off point to a seller, test it on a small segment and compare the result with a human SDR team; our outsourced sales vs in-house SDR comparison shows what to measure.
  • Ask your Microsoft account team how Copilot credits are charged for the agent from 16 November 2026 and which plans are required, since neither is stated in the announcement.
  • Clean up account ownership and contact fields in Dynamics 365; the skills and the agent read the same data our lead generation work starts from.
