Salesforce agrees to buy Cresta, maker of AI voice agents and real time call coaching

Salesforce announced on 2 November 2026 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, a platform for AI voice agents and live call coaching. Cresta will work with Service Cloud, and the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce's fiscal year 2028, pending regulatory approval.

What Salesforce announced

Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to buy Cresta, which describes itself as a voice first operating system for customer experience. Cresta's voice agents take complex customer calls from start to finish. The same platform guides human representatives during a call, tests and improves the voice agents and analyses every conversation. Salesforce names Marriott, Comcast and Alaska Airlines as brands that use it.

According to the Salesforce announcement, Cresta will be combined with Service Cloud so that each conversation is linked to the customer record and to its result, which Salesforce lists as resolution, retention and revenue. "Voice is where service is hardest to get right," said Kishan Chetan, who runs Agentforce and Service Cloud. After closing, Cresta will keep supporting the contact center and telephony platforms its customers use today.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce's fiscal year 2028. The purchase price, product names and pricing for Salesforce customers are not stated in the announcement.

What it means for B2B sales teams

The announcement is written for service teams, but calls are also where many sales happen: inbound demo requests, renewals and upsell conversations. Salesforce is putting conversation analysis and live coaching next to the CRM record, the same space where standalone call recording tools sell to sales teams today. Expect more pressure on revenue leaders to run calls, coaching and pipeline data in one system.

Two limits matter. Sales use cases are not named in the announcement, so do not plan around them yet. And voice agents raise compliance questions: in the EU, call recording needs a lawful basis under GDPR, and the AI Act expects people to be told when they speak to an AI system. Our guide on AI sales agents versus human reps covers where a person still wins the call.

What to do now

  • List which of your sales calls are repeatable (qualification, renewals) and which need a person (negotiation, complex demos).
  • Check that your call recording notices and consent wording cover AI analysis, not only recording.
  • If you already use Cresta or Service Cloud, ask Salesforce how licences and data flows will change before renewing contracts.
  • Keep coaching tied to real pipeline outcomes; our full sales cycle work measures calls by meetings and deals, not talk time.
